Gnostic Principles
Now, it is necessary to deepen our understanding regarding some of the PRINCIPLES that have always characterized the Gnosis.
Those who have been never interested in diving in the wide sea of the doctrinal basis of the eternal Gnosis, easily can fall into the temptation of forming a quick conclusion of the significance of this revealing knowledge, and, as a consequence, generate an idea that is short of objectivity and reality.
Gnosticism is accused of being a corporal and sensual doctrine; however, those who criticize do not understand or know the Gnostic principles that explain the condition of the present man in the framework of Creation. It is clear that humanity has degenerated over the centuries, and in order to provide evidence to this assertion, it is enough to have a look at all of the black pages or unenlightened acts conducted throughout history and we will realize that instead of becoming better, we have become worse in all aspects.
Gnosticism has never accepted, and will never accept that the salvation of the Soul can be reached by a simple act of faith, because this would be equivalent to accept that the evolutionary mechanics of time will end up making all of us perfect. And if this were the case, all the sufferings endured by the martyrs, envoys, illuminated Masters or prophets in their effort to show us the Path to regeneration and salvation would have been unnecessary and pointless.
This is the reason why some ancient Gnostic groups expressed the following: «I suffer in my corporal vesture to which they -the psychological egos- brought me; and cast me out -from the circle of eternity- into this vale of tears».
GNOSIS is not a doctrine that hates the body, but an ideology which understands that human being is a prisoner of nature and its great number of laws; and that is the reason why other Gnostic groups such as the old congregation of Benares exclaims:
Birth is suffering -because we are born with the Consciousness asleep-, decrepitude is suffering -for the same reason-, death is suffering, to be united to what we do not love is suffering, not to have what we desire is suffering. The permanent exigency of desire is what produces the return of the Souls, all of this accompanied by an enthusiastic delivery, an attraction for life, in a form or another, that is to say, by the sensual pleasure, the existence or annihilation.
Gnosticism is sometimes anathematized, in spite of being a mystical-philosophical system which tries to explain the reason for the suffering of the human being.
The Gnostic thought updates the thesis of the existence of the PSYCHIC AGGREGATES which is very wellknown in Tibet. Psychic aggregates are entities within the psychic anatomy of the earthly man and this thesis has been taught during many centuries by other PRE-CHRISTIAN, CHRISTIAN and POST-CHRISTIAN civilizations.
We must not forget the RED DEMONS OF SETH, which were fought by the Egyptian spiritual man; the YELLOW-FACES and KALIYENI which tried to block the way to the Hindu hero ARJUNA in his attempt to reach his inner Liberation. Moreover, we can mention the 400 SURIANS commanded by COYOLXAUHQUI, which tried to annihilate HUITZILOPÓCHTLI -the highest divinity of the ancient Aztecs. Also, let us evoke the PHILISTINE and GOLIATH who harassed the people of Israel who longed the mystical salvation.
Jesus himself had to cast out of his temple -inner temple- to the rude merchants -undesirable psychological entities- that tried to profane his inner divinity. And Jesus did it using the whip -of the willpower. The ancient Hellenics also made used of this symbolism when they left the fight between PERSEUS and the dreadful MEDUSAto posterity, or in another case, in Crete, when they related about the fight to death between THESEUS and the MINOTAUR. In the Persian world this fight was theologically maintained between AHURAMAZDA and AHRIMAN, the antithetic enemies.
All these points of similarity are also found in the lessons carried forward over the centuries by the different Gnostic authors, which have been vilely condemned by the clerical interests, showing, with such an attitude, a deep doctrinal ignorance. This is the case of Valentine, who has not been well understood when he expressed in the ancient times the following idea:
And it happens to the heart something similar to what happens in a lodging where many rude people spend the night... These persons do not take care of the place, because it does not belong to them. The same happens when we do not take care of the heart -seat of the pure feelings. It remains impure and it is the dwelling of a multitude of demons -psychological I's.
It is the function of Gnosticism to give a true psychic or spiritual identity to the human creature; because, studied deeply, the human creature is nothing more than a group of capricious energetic entities that fight constantly one to another and which do not have any objectivity. In the words of Mr. SAMAEL AUN WEOR, we state:
In the name of Truth, I solemnly declare that the Being is the only real existence, before whose transparency, ineffable and terribly Divine, this that we call “I”, Ego, Myself, Self, is just outer darkness, wailing and gnashing of teeth.
The “I”, the Ego is made up of additions and subtractions of subjective, inhuman and bestial elements that have a beginning and an end.
To assimilate the nature of the BEING inside us implies -for those who wish it- the self-annihilation of their «I», in the first place.
In this sincere and voluntary work, the devotee is helped by his Pneuma -Spirit-, because the creation of the Soul is the result of a centripetal force -the rigorous discipline and the doctrinal loyalty of the devotee- and a centrifugal force -the revealing dynamism of the BEING that attempts to develop the SELF-GNOSIS through the human experience.
The instrument that takes part in this experience is called in these studies, the «CONSCIOUSNESS». Unfortunately, although the consciousness keeps in its depths the pristine treasure of the ultra-divine Knowledge, at this moment the consciousness is prisoner of the diverse psychological elements that are called «UNDESIRABLE PSYCHICAL AGGREGATES» in many Oriental doctrines.
The Essence, the Consciousness, awakens, becomes enlightened, is liberated, through dissolving the «I»; then, as a consequence or corollary, comes the SELF-KNOWLEDGE, the SELF-GNOSIS. Obviously, this extraordinary revelation invites us to die in ourselves so that the BEING can manifest in ourselves.
The BEING, as a free force that carries the OMNISCIENCE in its nature, is able to have control over creation, nature and all its elements, and therefore, over the whole cosmos; because the Being knows the secret reason of the existence and the different mutations that have taken place in the scenario of the Cosmos-genesis and Anthropogenesis.
Therefore, when one possesses the BEING, one also has got its attributes; and this is what the authentic magicians like Moses, Jesus, Zarathustra, Hermes Trismegisto, Quetzalcoatl, etc, did.
They were personages through whom a supra-human willpower, able to do the most unsuspected metaphysical or paranormal phenomena, was expressed whenever it was necessary.
Unquestionably, only through a profound «yearning of being», we can reach that mysterious power that lies innate in our innermost depths, and which is called in GNOSIS the REAL BEING.
It is also a pity that some bad informed authors have associated GNOSTICISM with heretical and anti-Christian tendencies. This is absurd, because the first Fathers of Church admitted that Gnosis was their better support. Let us remember that Jesus himself was linked tothe Essenes, whose Gnostic ideas are universally recognized. The great mystic Saint Augustine declared himself to be theologically Gnostic.
Nevertheless, it is necessary to clarify that many societies sheltered -throughout history- by the word GNOSIS, have taught doctrines that were far removed from GNOSTICISM. But, on the other hand, Mr. Serge Hutin states: «Cathars and Templars have been accused of sodomy; such accusations are false, but these customs have been practiced by darker sects».
The mystical-philosophical conceptions of the Gnostics regarding God and the Creation, which, in general, ahve been so much criticized by dogmatic religious organizations, really have transcendental ontological roots that explain in the most suitable way the nature of divinity.
Regarding this subject, it is good to say the following:
All nations’ first god or gods were androgynous. This could not be otherwise, since they considered their bi-sexual progenitors or ancestors as divine beings or holy gods -just as the Chinese currently do.
In fact, the misconception of an anthropomorphic Jehovah who is exclusive and independent of his own creation, sitting up above in a tyrannical and despotic throne, throwing thunder and lightening bolts against this unfortunate human-ants nest, is the result of ignorance -mere intellectual idolatry.
Gnostics of all times have rejected, not the Unknown God, one and ever present in Nature, or nature in Abscondito, but rather the orthodox dogma -the frightful and revengeful deity of the Law of the Talion -eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.
In the word “Elohim” we find a transcendental key that moves us to reflection.
It is an irrefutable fact, not only from an esoteric point of view, but also from a linguistic one, that the term “Elohim” is a feminine noun with a plural, masculine ending.
The proper translation -strictu sensu- of the noun ELOHIM is GODS and GODDESSES».
The apocrypha genesis of many religions, which have not been published because of dark interests, which we do not want to talk about here in order to not to scandalize many blind, begin saying: «The Spirit of the feminine and masculine principles moved over the surface of chaos, and creation took place».
With this, we want to emphasize the following points:
Unquestionably, a religion without Goddesses is halfway to complete atheism.
If we really want a perfect balance of psychic life, we need to worship the Elohim -the Gods and Goddesses of ancient times-, and not the anthropomorphic Jehovah rejected by the Great Kabir Jesus.
The idolatrous cult of the anthropomorphic JEHOVA, instead of the “Elohim”, is certainly a powerful obstacle to achieving the supranormal conscious states.
Gnostic anthropologists, instead of laughing sceptically -as the profane anthropologists do- at the representations of the Gods and Goddesses of the diverse pantheons: the Aztec, Maya, Olmec, Toltec, Inca Chibcha, Druid, Egyptian, Hindu, Chaldean, Phoenician, Mesopotamian and Tibetan ones, etc., etc., etc., throw ourselves on our knees at the feet of those divinities, for in them we recognize the Elohim Creator of the Universe in them. “Whoever laughs at what he does not know is on the way to becoming an idiot”.
Unquestionably, the faculties of human cognition will never go beyond the cosmic realm of the Male-Female Logos, the Creator Demiurge, or the Army of the Voice -The Word.
JAH-HOVAH, the secret FATHER-MOTHER of each us, is the authentic JEHOVAH.
JOD, the Hebrew letter, is the MEMBRUM VIRILE -the Masculine Principle. EVE, HEVE as well as HEBE, the Greek Goddess of Youth, or Hercules’ Olympic bride, is the YONI, the divine Chalice, the Eternal Feminine.
In fact, the divine Rabbi of Galilee worshipped his divine male-female -JAH-HO-VAH-, the inner Father-Mother.
The holy Jesus, crucified on the place of the skull, cried with a great voice and said: “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit”. RAM-IO, ISIS, his divine mother Kundalini, accompanied him in his Via Crucis.
We finish this theological point by saying:
The deviation from the Creator Demiurge, the antithesis, what is fatal, is the inclination to egotism, the real origin of so much bitterness. Undoubtedly, the egoical consciousness is identified with Jahve who, according to Saturninus of Antioch, is a fallen Angel, the Genie of evil.
