Interests Set Against Gnosis

There have been several occasions in history, in which the Gnostic doctrine has been challenged by various opponents intent on discrediting the Gnostic postulates with vulgar commentaries. Really, the Gnosis of all times has been attacked by those who do not want its truth and integral knowledge to be revealed, by those who do not want the fundamental knowledge which allows the exact interpretation of the philosophical Paths that lead to the self-liberation of the being, that is to say, to the salvation of the human being and his psychic principles, to be revealed. Obviously, dogmatic interests have been adverse to the pursuit of GNOSIS or GNOSTICISM, because those dogmatic interests see Gnosis as a threat to their continuity, existence and social standing.

As a preliminary introduction to the aforementioned paragraphs, we can pose the question that often arises in the mind of a certain sort of people: IS GNOSIS A POLITICAL INSTRUMENT?

We must look for the answer in the principles of the Gnostic doctrine, and not in the deliriums of power that some «political leaders», who believed themselves predestined to rule the world, have suffered. The authentic GNOSTICISM has only one purpose -already commented in the above paragraphs-, TO MAKE THE HUMAN BEING CONSCIOUS ABOUT HIS DUTY TOWARDS THE REASON OF HIS EXISTENCE, THAT IS, HIS INNER REAL BEING.

GNOSIS has never been guilty of the offences against the order, the good customs and in general against the humanity, commited by some persons -politicians in some cases- who claimed to be GNOSTICS. This case is similar to the one of those «catholic gentlemen of the inquisition» in the Middle Ages, who far from embodying the Christian principles, they were ccothed in the garments of Christianity in order to commit crimes against innocent and respectable people. The true Christians will excuse us for using this example and will understand that what we want to explain is. «All that glitters is not gold», as says the popular saying.

The crazy acts of many pseudo-Gnostics that have existed at various times throughtout history, are not consistent from any point of view neither with the primitive Gnostic doctrine, nor with the present one. GNOSTICISM always preaches the AHIMSA -non-violence-, and those who justify the violence in their actions and claim to be Gnostics, are a faithful reflection of the PHARISEES that have existed at all times and in all doctrines of humanity.

In this sense, we can emphatically state unequivocally and without fear of error that «GNOSIS IS REFINED REVELATION, CONCEPTUAL SYNTHESIS, MAXIMUM ACHIEVEMENTS».

Hence, there is another important allegation that requires an answer for the benefit of our kind reader:

WHY IS IT SAID FROM CERTAIN SECTORS THAT GNOSTICISM IS TRAUMATIC?

Those who say that Gnosis is a traumatic knowledge have misunderstood the original meaning of the Gnostics principles; they ignore that Gnosticism is a «very intimate mystical process, very natural and very profound».

Gnosis is a «profound esotericism that is developing from instant to instant, with very vivid mystical experiences and with its own doctrine». «The correlate of the Gnostic knowledge is the infinite intimacy of the person, that is, the BEING of the ancient philosophy».

The BEING must be understood as the intelligent and deepest part that is present in the innermost region of every human creature. The BEING finds in GNOSIS the elements that allow Him to manifest in man or woman, and to take him -or her- to the divinity. However, the BEING has a tie that is necessary to eliminate in order to allow His manifestation within us. Such tie is the ANIMAL PSYCHOLOGICAL «I» of the human species; we can call it with different names: SATAN, EGO, DEMON, PSYCHOLOGICAL AGGREGATES, UNDESIRABLE ENTITIES, etc., etc.

«Unfortunately, the Essence, the Consciousness, is immersed, trapped, bottled up into the different elements that make up the «Myself», the «Ego», and, the Consciousness, processes itself painfully according to its own conditioning.

Knowing oneself is having achieved identification with one’s own Divine Being.

Obviously, this extraordinary revelation invites to us to die in ourselves -psychologically speaking-, in order that the BEING can manifest within ourselves. On the contrary, to continue as Ego with asleep Consciousness, means the self-damnation to our inner hells and in fact to resign oneself to lose our psychic material.

This TO DIE that GNOSTICISM talks about, is a fundamental psychological change from the innermost depths of the person that must be moderately carried out by the student who yearns for the liberating knowledge. This change is not carried out in a disordered or in a capricious way, but in a methodical and didactical way utilizing the tools of the REVOLUTIONARY PSYCHOLOGY framework that the International Gnostic Movement possesses for that goal. Gnosis does not execute this change by ascetism or renuntiation -without comprehension- to life, as this ultimately results in trauma for those who try it. That is not the way.

In the present times, the Father of the Contemporary Gnosticism, Mr. SAMAEL AUN WEOR, developed the method for the progressive understanding of oneself so that the sincere devotee who yearns the Gnostic liberating experience can follow and perform to bring about this necessary psychological change.

The Gnostic Psychology is the same method practiced by the ancient PHILOKALIA of Egyptians and the Vedic Hindus. The Gnostic Psychology profoundly knows the way to teach the human being the correct way to assume control of the five functional centres of the human machine, that is, the intellectual, emotional, motor, instinctive and sexual centres or functionalisms.

Is it a trauma to put the functionalism of the human being in order? Or is it perhaps better to continue being a slave of our inferior emotions, negative thoughts, incoherent movements, wild instincts and unrestrained sexuality?

This TO DIE in order to BE BORN to new manifestations of life -moral, spiritual and psychic life-, is what the Great Kabir Jesus meant when he said to Nicodemus: «In truth, in truth I tell you: if you are not born again you will not be able to see the Kingdom of Heavens».

We should understand by Heavens, in this case, not the celestial firmament, but the «Heavens of Consciousness», that is, the other dimensions of nature which have already been confirmed by Einstein and Hinton in their theory.

All these mutations have to be produced within the human being, and the following paragraphs help us to understand this point:

«Desire, Fornication, to want to stand out as Ego, brings about disaster and disorder. It produces an adulterated work that is far from the Divine realm - even though the Essence, the BUDDHATA, the human creature’s Psychic Material, remains trapped in such a work.

The fall of degenerate man is the basis of the Theology of all ancient nations.

According to Philolaus, the Pythagorean -fifth century BC-, ancient philosophers used to say that the Psychic Material, the Essence, was «buried» in the «I», like in a tomb, as punishment for some sin.

Plato gives testimony that this was the Orphics’ Doctrine, and he himself professed it.

To want to stand out ourselves as Ego, always brings disorder and the fall of any angelic rebellion.

It is obvious the disconcertingly lack of strength and power of the poor “intellectual mammal” mistakenly called “Man’’ in order to rise from the mire of the earth without Divine aid.

We declare with ardent words: only the “Divine Breath’’ can reinstate us in the Truth; nevertheless, this is only possible by means of conscious work and voluntary suffering, and with the aid of the intimate psychoanalysis.

Two psychological states open before a definite Gnostic:

  1. That of the Being, which is transparent, crystal-clear, impersonal, real and true.
  2. That of the «I’s», which is a collection of Psychic Aggregates that personify defects, whose only reason to exist is ignorance.

Superior «I» and inferior «I» are just two sections of one same thing, different aspects of the «Myself», diverse facets of the Infernal.

The «I» is a horrifying work of many volumes; the result of countless yesterdays, a fatal knot that we have to undo.

The Self-Salvation is the right way, and this requires a full identification between what saves and what is saved.

What is Divine, which dwells in the depths of the Soul, the authentic and legitimate cognizing faculty, is able to annihilate the Ego, and to absorb, in its “PAROUSIA’’, the Essence, saving it in total enlightenment. This is the theme of the “SALVATOR SALVANDUS’’».

The day we get the reconciliation with our «HALITUS DIVINALIS», that day will be the immortal dawn and we’ll have been properly purified to greet it. When this happens we can exclaim as the wise king Solomon:

Blessed whoever reaches the Wisdom and acquires the Intelligence. Because his acquisitions are better than silver and are of more benefit than gold. They are more valuable than pearls and there is no treasure that equals them.

He takes in his right hand the longevity, and wealth and honours in his left hand. His mouth is the source of justice and in his tongue takes the law and the mercy. His ways are delightful ways and his paths are full of peace. They -wisdom and intelligence- will be a tree of life for whoever obtains them; who embrace them is blessed.

With his wisdom founded Jehovah the Earth; with his intelligence consolidated the Heavens.
